General Information
Tell Halaf is the type site for the Halaf period, however there is very little evidence of the Halaf at the site and the excavation was predominantly of a Middle-Late Bronze age occupation.
It was excavated by Max von Oppenheim in 1911-13 and 1929. These excavations were on a massive scale involving up to 500 workers are once see Von Oppenheim (1933) for more information.
