From Aktanak
The Seal Design Group of an object refers to the general classification of the design on the object. Its Sub-Category Seal Design Sub Group refers to the specific type of the design group. The list below lists the frequency of all the different design groups.
- Frequency
The base design groups are (with frequency): {{#sask: ?DesignGroup | return=ol | sort=freqasc| addfrequency= | addfrequencypercent=}}
- Percentage
The specific design groups are (with percentage): {{#sask: ?DesignGroup | return=ol | sort=freqasc | addfrequencypercent=}}
As can be seen the top level categories need some work to balance the rough number of objects within each. The data below is structured by a Sub-Category for each of the Design Group's and a Sub-Sub-Category for the Design Sub Group. Specific objects can be located in Design Sub Group although synthesis data is largely available in the Design Groups. To briefly outline what each type represents:
Contents
Aligned centre
The key factor here is the object's design is focused on the centre of the object.
Chevrons
A variant of Aligned centre where a central cross has chevrons in each quadrant.
Radiating Lines
A variant of Aligned centre where the emphasis is on lines radiating from/to the edge/centre.
Square and Lines

Animal
An object whose primary motif is a Animal
Circles
Objects with a double circle motif.
Cross-hatching
Displaying a variety of cross-hatching.

Presently unique examples.

Design is focused on a split.
Naturalistic
Where the shape of a theoretical impression is Naturalistic.
Not a Seal
Objects which are not traditional seals but are included within Aktanak for comparative purposes
